You actually listed my guess in your deduction post in a purely elementary way.

I understand what you're saying.

Trying to be brief and not name names, in our second year, we ran into an issue with a potential guest that we pretty much had a yes for, and was waiting on just "one little thing."  So in our mind, let's go announce this guest so that we can get people excited.

It became a big issue with the guest and we had to apologize to them and to attendees, and we didn't want to deal with that stress anymore.  So it's our policy to announce guests when we have EVERYTHING resolved and completed.  If there is one hang up with the guest, no matter how small or minute, we don't announce them.  Sometimes its not the guest's fault -- alot of the guests we get are very busy and just don't get back to us in a few weeks.  It's the nature of how things are done I suppose.  We ultimately don't want to give wrong information or incorrect info, and when we plan an announcement campaign, it wrecks havoc on our timing! ::sadface::

If it was just me running the show and I had complete control, I would announce a guest as soon as we get them!  Last year they came in quickly.  This year, we got a late start, but we still are doing very well Smiley

Oh, as to your guesses for guests -- you're partly correct. Tongue   Just think about how we announce Stephanie Young, we usually announce both her and her husband as one guest.  Take that for what its worth Wink

I will tell you right now that Jennifer Hale is NOT a guest this year, which does sadden me Sad

I'm afraid I don't understand exactly what you mean when you say that the guests have "this ONE thing" which throws a wrench in the works.

As for deducing the returning guests, I'm no Sherlock Holmes but I did recently see the BBC show Sherlock (2010) on Netflix so I feel pretty confident in guessing that Stephanie Young will be a returning guest. "Ties to anime" makes me think that the guest's link to Anime is vague, and thus they aren't primarily an anime VA. That could cover Stephanie Young's husband, but it could also mean Jennifer Hale. If it does mean Hale, which would be good because I didn't get to meet her last year, then that means that there's another guest. My guess then would be Clarine Harp (a biased guess), but I'm sticking to my original guess of Stephanie Young.

Reading the clues, it doesn't seem as though both Stephanie Young and Clarine Harp could return to matsuricon. If so, I'm glad that I was there last year. I particularly enjoyed Harp's behind the scenes panel with Eric "demon of the desert" Vale.

For new guests, Jamie Marchi just came to mind
(mainly because I don't want to go to the outskirts of Chicago in September, couldn't go to Long Island this weekend, and can't go to upstate new York in 3 weeks as I'll be at another con).

I don't think I know how Stephanie Young is usually announced. I think I remember her being announced early on a matsuricon flier last year. I do know that she and david brehm are usually a package deal, and that it's tradition for them to appear @ matsuricon Wink

No Hale is a sad face. shoulda met her last year, but oh wells.

I got to meet her. She was nice. I even got a picture and an autograph.

Are you sure you can give out that info -- or is it really the correct info!?  Shocked

Anyway, with that in mind, I think I have an idea of who the other returning guest is.

So I misread the post. My mistake.

Assuming that we have Stephanie Young and David Brehm, and they're one guest, that could leave us with 3 more guests, one of which might not really be known as an anime VA.

If we also have Karbowski, hopefully, that leaves us with 2 more guests, one of which probably isn't a renown anime actor, but has some ties to Anime.

If we do have Karbowski, does she count as a returning guest or a new guest?

So, the podcast announced a new guest. Go listen to it.

Lol, no subjunctive for you. Anyhow, what and where is this podcast? The only podcast to which I've even semiregularly listened has been Tatum's (anime voice actor, for clarity).

So now only 3 guests, as of right now, remain unknown to us?

Well, that just leaves us with 3 unknown guests, though I'm going to stand by my predictions (hopes, really) and say that there's only 1 of the 4 unknowns left unknown. I suppose we shouldn't say who was said in the podcast until someone more official posts it first, so I'll be vague.

So we know who it isn't, fwiw.

Does "returning guest" as y'all are using it mean that they've been to any matsuricon before, or just 2011? If it means guests to any matsuricon, then we can rule out a few more guests.

Though I see a slight problem here:if one guest is not really known for anime, which I inferred from a hint, then since I think we know 3 of the 4 that means that the 4th person is probably not a renown anime VA. The problem is that this person will now become much harder to guess. I wouldn't have guessed Jennifer Hale last year if given these same clues.

Is it a web comic guest? I remember there being more of those last year than there are listed for this year.

Assuming that the last guest is a voice actor, I'll throw out the wildest, most outlandish guesses (or hopes) that come to mind:Shelley Black or Jon St. John.

Well, if any of you are hoping that either Vic Mignogna, Veronica Taylor, Allison Keith-Shipp or Lisa Ortiz are coming, you are out of luck.

They will be attending Fan Expo Canada that same weekend. (Annoucement Link)

Meanwhile, Tiffany Grant and Matt Greenfield will be attending Nom-Con in Dublin, Ireland that same weekend as well. (Info Link)

Bummer.

I was really hoping for Veronica to return! It was just an honor to meet her last year. I am still having my fingers cross for Eric Stuart though. And maybe we can get Rachel Lillis this year?

Huh, the last time that I looked at the animecons  list for Greenfield 2012 it didn't show anything. That website is useful, but it's so slow oftentimes, and then I miss out on stuff like this. Thanks for the update.  I'm glad that I found them in Toledo last year as, short of driving to Nebraska iirc, I have barely any chance of seeing them again. Greenfield said that he does all the major cons, but I couldn't find him at otakon.

Out of curiosity, how did you find out about those 2 going to Ireland? Tiffany Grant has an occasionally-updated list of scheduled cons on her site, but it seems to be a crapshoot as to what cons greenfield goes.

I didn't really expect any of those guests to be at matsuricon this year, though I would have liked it if they were.

So we still have Britney Karbowski, the "voice of Funimation", right?  Wink  If I remember my clues, we can't get her and the people you listed, and Stuart/Vale are sadly out of the running.  Those 2 guys were pretty awesome, especially at the voice actors uncensored panel.

Used AnimeCons.com to find out which conventions went on in the same weekend and visited the official convention sites. If you want information, sometimes you got to find out straight from the horse's mouth.
