Aww, he was pretty much the lamest pilot (the lead pilots in gundam always seem to be).

I didn't get to watch Wing in English (and my ears regret it) but if you do manage to book him he can sign next to my pending Quatre signature (yes, heero was more lame than Quatre).

BTW could we switch to non-audio hints?

^Opinion.  Heero was one of the deepest characters of the show, and certainly among the five pilots.  My second favorite pilot next to Trowa.  But I like teh big guns. Grin

Heero had no soul and was a static character. I'm not willing to say that his ambiguous relationship with peacecraft counts as development. That I think he was lame because of that is an opinion, but I'm certain the rest is fact.

I have the same complaint about the very similar, though much later, main male character from full metal panic.

Check the lore of the After Colony storyline.  He actually has a story as to why he's so emotionally bland and all that.

He's still a static character in the presentation of the show, and I maintain that he's the lamest of them all.  He acts spontaneously and irrationally (hurting the efforts of the gundam force as a whole), he is only tolerated by the other pilots out of necessity, and he doesn't seem to do anything that the cooler characters couldn't have done better. I vaguely remember parts of the show where the show was contrived to make heero out to be more skilled than the others, but I wouldn't say that it counts.

Gundam has always been one of those shows where I find the undeveloped and unlikable male protagonist to be something I have to hold my nose against and suffer through for the much cooler side characters. Like FMA or Bleach, for 2 well known examples.  I'm not sure how anyone can like those guys, they're melancholic jerks and are, at least to me, unrelatable.

If there's one good thing I can say about Heero, it's that he was at least consistently lame through the whole show. He never had potential to be a great character and then lost it, like Duo Maxwell sadly did.

Anyhow, if the Gundam clue is a hint to a guest then it's time to go back to the drawing board as "the guy who played heero" would undoubtedly be known for his Anime work...

What I wonder now is if the twitter post about a new guest announcement relates to this or something else entirely...

Sadly it looks like heero's VA didn't do many other Anime roles. Unlike much of the rest of the cast he isn't known for any other renown roles.

...which means he, were he to appear at matsuricon, couldn't sign my gundam 00 (which I haven't seen dubbed, or I would have already known).

At the rate we're going, we won't know the name of the new Twitter guest until the 19th... or maybe even longer...

Stay tuned tonight Wink  We are changing it up a little.

To officially answer your question, this guest announcement has nothing to do with what is going on with the website.

Indeed. Do the sound clues on the site have anything to do with any guest announcement?

Since I don't know what else it could be, I'm gonna jump onto the "heero is the guest not known really for anime" bandwagon (This year's Tristan; I sadly haven't gotten my DVDs signed by him) and that the guest announcement which depends on Facebook likes is one of the 2 other unknown guests.

Gundam Wing can't be the theme of the con, that's already taken (or so I think), so if it isn't a cryptic clue for the mystery guest than I've run out of ideas. We can't have that as there are still 4 months until the con Wink
