So is Gundam a clue for one of our Final Four guests?  I don't think it could be one of the "surprises" considering that you've hinted heavily about it, or am I on the wrong track here?

We know Scott Freeman (he really needs more roles), and I'm assuming Karbowski, Young, and someone from everyone's favorite "shounen" series Death Note.  Could you give me some insight as to how Gundam fits in here?  I think I'm biased as I don't want to edge Karbowski or Young out of the Final Four. Wink

BTW where was the hidden access to the death note opening?  Using my phone I have been unable to find it. It was a feat in itself to just find the hidden text.  My kingdom for a mouse Wink

If it ends up being Brian Drummond, I'm going to laugh wholeheartedly.

Any reason in particular?  (Not saying it is or it isn't this person, just curious)

Well, let me speculate. Brian Drummond has played lead characters on both Death Note and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.

Both of these characters are beings that have lived for a long time for one reason or another.

Both of these characters have a direct relationship with the main character of each show, one as a rival (GW/Heero) and the other as a co-conspirator (DN/Light).

It's not much to go on considering I haven't watched either series (yeah, yeah, you can ream me later), but it's a reasonable guess in my mind.

What about the clue for one of the Final Four not really being known for anime?  That could cover Juliani as he is better known for that unfortunately lame Battlestar Galactica remake than for being anime's real Sherlock Holmes (L). I don't think it could work for Drummond as he is mostly known for anime, and he has several notable roles besides Ryuk, namely Vegeta from dbz (before Sabat became everyone in that show).

On a tangent, it would be pretty cool to have some of the original dbz male actors who were supplanted by Sabat appear at matsuricon 2012 as Sabat will be there.

I can't rag on you too much (well, I guess I could... Wink - for not having seen those shows.  I still haven't seen Gundam Wing dubbed, and I didn't finish it as by the end all of the respectable characters have fallen from grace.  Plus the Japanese dub left a lot to be desired.  Death Note has been done a disservice by being lumped into the same category as shows like Naruto and FMA when it is far greater than those.  Death Note could have been better, but if it is shounen then everything else classified as shounen is incorrectly labeled. So, if you check out the Facebook photos on Matsuricon's Facebook page, you'll find characters from Ranma ½ trying to sneak into the frame...

I saw that, but I didn't know what to make of it as I only saw bits of that show, and I saw them years and years ago.

I guess Brad Swaile.
We have been informed that the sound on the home page is from Gundam Wing where he played Quatre.  The Facebook page has characters from Ranma 1/2 where he play Mousse.  He has been to several cons which I feel makes it more likely to be a guess.

Check the website tonight for a summary of the clues so far.  One more clue is coming, and the reveal will be next weekend.

I'm personally hoping against Brad Swaile as he'll be at a con this weekend, a con to which I'll be going. Personal bias, sure, so for something more deductive, wasn't the Gundam song posted identified as Heero's theme, not Quatre's?  He's still a strong candidate, depending on whether the "not known for anime" clue applies to his guest slot.

So we know there are two returning guests, and 2 new guests. Assuming that the guests announced since that clue was posted count towards that we already know one guest from each category. I can't think of a returning guest who isn't really known for anime (we ruled out any I could think of) so I'm thinking that clue has to apply to a new guest.

This gives me more time to mull over the choices. I hope that you might, with your apparent connections at funimation, get a reclusive actor like Jason Liebrecht.  But if it is Brad Swaile, that should still be awesome, reflecting on it.

I mean, Liebrecht is a king and all, but Swaile is the God of the New World, and it's not often that a con gets visited by a deity in the flesh Wink

Could you guys maybe persuade the con over in Fort Wayne to send Blake Shepard over to matsuricon? Wink

BTW was there something special about matsuricon regarding kyle Hebert last year? I ask as I've been to 2 cons since, one smaller and one larger than matsuricon, and at neither did he do the voice actor radio panel that he did @ matsuricon. I enjoyed that panel, TBH.
