Scott McNeil is stalking me in my summer cons this year. He's also attending TFCon too. I'm surprised you guys haven't mentioned that he was the main man behind Beast Wars!

I'd try and pretend that I wasn't involved in beast wars either.  That show didn't belong on toonami in the least. That's the kind of show I expect people to use aliases on Wink

Blasphemy, sir.  Beast Wars was glorious.  XD  Of course, I am perhaps just too much of a nerd for robots that look like animals and talk like Scott McNeil.

They replaced Jonny Quest on toonami with that poorly-animated show, a brutal statement as it was poor cg which killed Jonny Quest.  That was something I can't forgive.

I tried to rewatch beast wars somewhat recently and the cg had not aged well.  I could have lived with that, but the oversimplified plot and characters were too much suck to take.

This wasn't the semi-mature, adult-watchable kids' show that it should have been, a show which acknowledged that kids have some intelligence, a show like today's Avatar or yesteryear's Jonny Quest.

As a Toonami expert, allow me to correct you.  Beast Wars was only on Toonami for a week.  Jonny Quest was back the next week and I really doubt that that one week off killed Jonny Quest.

No.  I don't allow it.

So you went to the Wikipedia page, did you? Color me unimpressed. Were you actually there, watching Toonami, when it happened? I remember watching it, in disbelief, it's my first ever time of feeling betrayed by a TV network, a childhood experience which prepped me for later ones like Firefly.  Jonny Quest getting preempted by that drivel was a clear sign that Jonny Quest's time was up.  Shortly after this incident they started running Toonami ads with telling us that Quest would soon be departing toonami.  Then it happened, and it took years for Toonami to gain back even a shred of its original coolness.

If they had replaced Quest with something awesome, or at least respectable, then I wouldn't have been so frustrated at the decision.  Internal politics at HB had already killed Quest, and I understood that the same 52 eps couldn't run forever.  Sadly beast wars was,.and is, underwhelming.  I gave it a chance, and it woefully disappointed.

It'd be like replacing Korra with the Clone Wars cartoon today.  Bleh.

Allow me to step in before this gets ugly.  Some people like Beast Wars and some people like Johnny Quest.  Both were on Toonami.  Whether or not the appearance of one on the network had anything to do with the removal of the other is a question that can only be answered by Cartoon Network employees.  There is no need to insult one another or your expertise with a network's history.  Let's all agree to disagree and not get heated over something that happened years ago lest the mods decide to take action in a most unpleasant manner.

So it's Friday, June 1st.  We've kept ourselves as occupied as possible without hints* (told you it wasn't a good idea lol), so now I know I'm ready for the super-double-secret-uber-awesome guest announcement.

(*It was said that there would be no hints but the Twitter feed has a seemingly large hint for everyone's favorite "magical creature native to the mythical land of Oklahoma", Brina Palencia)

I'd rather have the huge announcement of definitely-booked awesome guests than hints to other guests whose presence is only possible.
