Although this does concern me a bit, that they haven't responded yet. Even the twitter has been kinda dead. Normally the matsuricon staffers are up in here posting; last week (perhaps technically 2 weeks ago now) they were informing us of the roadblock asap. Since they're mum about all this, I almost wonder what happened to them. Did some calamity strike the "good morning state" and I just didn't hear about it?  Edit: The silver lining is that I've had more time to brace myself for the promised awesomeness. I don't know if I was really ready on Friday for the promised awesomeness to be unleashed; if they'd announced announced the rest of the ocean group or the completion of my Funi/Sentai/Geneon dream team, I might have been overwhelmed lol.  |

By this stage of the game, I think we'd need some combination of Shelley Calene-Black, David Matranga, Carrie Savage, and Brittney Karbowski for this guest announcement to live up to the ever-increasing hype. I don't know if even the entire ocean group could live up to this now. Somehow I feel crushing disappointment coming...  |

Once again .... this isn't looking well at all for Matsuricon. You are disappointing your attendees more and more by these false promises. June 1st, that promise was broken. June 8th's was as well. Is there even a guest at all? At this point in time, I'm loosing high hopes here at all for a good guest list this year other then Scott McNeil.

Was it matsuricon's involvement at colossalcon that caused the announcement to be skipped? Speaking of colossalcon, even though I think this was a safe bet to begin with, from matsuricon's twitter feed it looks like the colossalcon guests won't be at matsuricon.
Except for the first-announced funimation guests, matsuricon's guest list seems to be riding the nostalgia train. The 2 ocean groupers haven't done any major anime that I recall in 5-10 years, which is centuries in "con years". That's why I suspect that the announcement is the rest of the ocean crew as they haven't done an anime series of note (sadly) in about as long, so they'd for right in aboard the nostalgia express. I do wonder how well this nostalgic strategy will work for matsuricon. In an age where many anime fans haven't seen the original Eva, aren't familiar with cartoon network shows like gits,bebop, original trigun, and (most egregiously) Death Note, I wonder how well it can work. If it isn't hetalia, home suck, or madoka, it is virtually nonexistent at cons.
All that aside, now that it is June 11th, how about that guest announcement?

No worries, this announcement is still happening -- my reason is that I've been working many hours at my real job and finally securing everything for the announcement. All I do is work, work and sleep sometimes Hark at real life! |
