The Chris Cason "anti q&a" panel does seem interesting. I had a chance to see it last weekend, but it ran against closing ceremonies* and unlike @ matsuricon 2011 I wasn't able to stay that long.

A sabat panel could be awesome, especially with the potential for a Piccolo showdown. Only thing.cooler and would be a Vegeta brawl.   The cons at which I've seen sabat have, tragically, been ones that believe that outside of q&a panels and autograph lines, guests should be neither heard nor seen (I say that tongue-in-cheek, I've spoken with their guest chair who told me that they didn't prioritize guests for years and are now shifting gears, but progress is slow).  Point being that a non q&a sabat panel would be a new, and potentially awesome, experience for me.

*why are opening ceremonies generally held hours and hours after the con opens but closing ceremonies are almost always the absolute last event at the con?

Matsuricon 2011 was as close to this ideal as I have ever seen.  Between their own panels, Voice Actors Uncensored (aka Open Season on legend Vic Mignogna), and Kyle Hebert's Anime Radio Show, every VA guest seemed involved, and was more engaging.  Other panels fitting this theme would be the old anime panel with Micah Solusod, Scott Freeman, and later even the esteemed Matsuricon chair (iirc), and the Harp/Vale industry panel.

Yep, I was a part of that panel.  It will make a return appearance

For us, it's because we want as many of the guests there to introduce themselves, and some of them don't arrive until noon or 1PM Friday.  Also, since our con falls on that first week of school, fans don't arrive until the afternoon on Friday.  We've seen cons do similar things to what we do -- it's all for maximum exposure

When I was still in public schooling, I didn't really know what Anime was, and once I learned I believed all that hokum about having to be 18 or getting parental approval.  At many cons, being 18 is being middle aged by age comparison, and being over 21 makes you.geriatric, relatively speaking.  Matsuricon didn't really have that issue, and it was nice to hit up the aforementioned old anime panel to shoot the breeze with a crowd all but guaranteed to be old enough to vote

When you're working in anime conventions, a good rule of thumb is to consider your main audience to average in between the ages of 16 and 22.  This means we have to take the school kids into account, and there are a surprising lot of them.  It still makes my head spin when I re-read the convention demographics from previous years.
