Anime Flea Market

Here we go again...

I propose that matsuricon have a anime flea market. yes colossalcon had one but i think it would be great if another con stepped up and tried it. a few rules to it though

1. no homemade stuff (aka stuff from artist alley)

2. nothing new bought from the dealers room and sold at a profit (which means buying it and selling it higher than the dealers room)

3. no outrageous prices! (seen where a flea market dealer was selling wall scrolls for 25 dollars at colossalcon...and they were very used)


with those rules in mind i think it would work for us. whats everyone elses opinion?

It should work, providing the con has a space for it.  I highly doubt #3 will be followed by some people, they think they are sitting on a gold mine instead of a trash heap.

That first rule's been very powerfully enforced ever since the occurrences of the first year at Colossal. It would be cool to see this at more cons though.

I'm hoping they do the flea market. I sold some stuff at the one at Colossalcon, but I still have a lot more stuff I need to get rid of!

I don't think you can really regulate what people charge for their stuff. I think it's almost an unspoken rule of "buyer beware" when it comes to pre-used stuff. I think people should be reasonable enough to not jack the prices up but at the same time, buyers need to make sure they aren't overspending for junk. I've been impressed with how Colossalcon did their flea market and it's a great concept!

ok then. well I guess is there is only 3 questions left

1: what day it would be held

2: do we need security (I don't think so in my opinion but who knows)

3: how to sign up the event (see panel hosting but no even hosting)
