What is the Escape Room?

Step into a themed room with friends, family, or fellow attendees and face a series of puzzles and riddles. Your goal is to uncover the clues, open the lock boxes, and escape before time runs out.

There are no physical challenges—only brainpower and teamwork. It is a beginner-friendly experience designed to test your problem-solving skills, bring your group together, and create a memorable Matsuricon adventure.

Review the complete runbook before your team arrives. Time slots are limited, and a little preparation keeps the experience moving for everyone.

Protocol 01 // Play

How to Play

Everything your team needs to begin the mission
  • The Escape Room is free to play with a valid Matsuricon badge.
  • This is a family-friendly activity, and all are welcome to join.
  • This is a beginner-level Escape Room so everyone can enjoy it.
  • You must reserve a time slot on the day you participate.
  • Sign-ups will be located at the entrance doors of the Escape Room. The final location is to be announced.
  • Participants should sign up as a group. Group sizes can range from 2 to 10 people and may be adjusted within reason.
  • Arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled time so the rules can be reviewed and questions can be answered.
  • Your team will have exactly 30 minutes in the Escape Room to break out.
  • If your team breaks out in time, every member of the group wins a prize.

Protocol 02 // Check In

How to Sign Up

Reserve your group’s day-of time slot
  • You may only sign up on the day of the event.
  • You must have a valid Matsuricon badge to sign up.
  • Only one person from your group needs to be present during sign-ups.
  • Time slots are first come, first served and are limited.
  • Sign-ups will be at the front doors of the Escape Room; the final location is to be announced.
  • All sign-ups will be completed on paper, so you will not need a phone or Wi-Fi.

Protocol 03 // Room Care

Rules and Etiquette

Keep the room safe, fair, and fun for every team
  • Every participant in the group must have a valid Matsuricon badge to play.
  • A safe, designated area will be available inside the room for your belongings.
  • Seating will also be available inside the Escape Room.
  • Please be gentle with the decorations and props. Clues may be hidden, but they will be easy to find.
  • You may move and touch objects, puzzles, and clues within the specified area of the room.
  • Everything should be fairly easy to open. Do not force or break anything; ask for assistance if you need it.
  • You may ask for as many clues or hints as you want. Make the challenge as easy or difficult as you like—the goal is to have fun.
