Pick Your Night // Sing Your Song

Three Nights. Two Ways to Karaoke.

Drop into one session or come back throughout the weekend. Signups happen during each event, so you can choose your song when you arrive.

No competition. No judgment. Just the mic.

Sing solo, bring friends up with you, or cheer from the audience while the room takes its turn.

Mic Check // Six Simple Rules

Keep the Room Ready for Every Singer

A little preparation and consideration keeps the queue moving, the equipment safe, and the spotlight welcoming.

Respect the mic. Respect the room. Respect the con.

The all-ages and adults-only sessions have different song limits, but every Matsuricon policy still applies.

  1. 01

Respect the performer and the gear

Give the singer your attention, and treat the microphone and sound equipment with care.

  2. 02

    Choose content for the room

All-ages songs must meet broadcast-style, radio-safe guidelines. At 18+ Karaoke, the exception still does not allow heavy or offensive use of common slurs.

  3. 03

    Keep songs to five minutes

Choose a song no longer than five minutes, and wait until after your current performance before joining the queue again.

  4. 04

    Bring a backup song

Have another choice ready in case the team determines that your first request is not appropriate.

  5. 05

    Use the digital options

Help keep the host table clear by using the digitally accessible sign-up options whenever possible.

  6. 06

    Convention rules still apply

All Matsuricon policies remain in effect throughout every Matsuri Karaoke session.

Eight Years of Open-Mic Energy

The MIC Group—yes, like a microphone—hosts Matsuricon’s open-mic karaoke along with participation-based panels, events, and games. They have worked with Matsuricon for eight years and keep coming back for the people who fill the room.

A note about Matsuri Idol

The MIC Group has discontinued Matsuri Idol in its current format. Look forward to a new version in the future as the team updates and modernizes its competition events.
