Volunteer Information:

Movement room is a fun filled interactive physical game room! This is a good area to volunteer for those looking for a more engaging volunteer experience. The Movement Room will have pre-scheduled games that will need to be managed and run by volunteers. Instructions for each game will be clearly communicated to volunteers prior to run time. Life sized board games and other activities will also be available in the room and may need to be reset. Good communication skills and people skills is a must for this department.

Potential responsibilities:

  • Badge Checking: Volunteers will check badges as attendees enter the Night Market, making sure if they have Platinum, Gold, 3 day attendee, or single day attendee badges. We also use a counter to keep track of the number of people coming into the Night Market, so keeping an accurate account is a must.
  • Running scheduled games: Volunteers will be expected to begin scheduled games on time and ensure items for that game are cleaned up and put away by the end time. Instructions on each game will be clearly communicated prior to run time. (Examples of games include: Cosplay Chess, Red Light Green Light, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Etc.)
  • Free Play: The room will have a section dedicated to life size board games (Ex. Large connect four, large tetris, large board games.. etc). The pieces can be big and can get in the way of activities. Volunteers will be expected to keep this area tidy in between scheduled games to ensure there are no tripping hazards.
  • Set Up and Tear Down: All volunteers are expected to assist with setting up and tear down at the convention. Setting up would include unboxing inventory from totes and putting together games. Tear down would include taking apart said games and storing them probably in totes.
