Matsuricon has revamped their Photographer Policy for 2024. Please read through the policy before applying.

At Matsuricon we treat Photographers who conduct paid photoshoots in the same manner as Artist Alley and Dealers. There will be an application process that must be completed and reviewed by a staff panel. Advertisements will not be approved until badge payment has been made and a confirmation email sent out.

Requirements: 

  • Have a portfolio that demonstrates previous convention, event, or professional photography experience.
  • The portfolio must be available as a public gallery page, such as a Flickr, Picasa, Zenfolio, Facebook Page, Etc.. Personal Facebook pages do not qualify for this requirement. Tumblr pages may qualify, but must be indexed. 
  • Photography Passes are open to all attendees 18 and older ( no Matsuricon staff may apply for a Paid Photography Pass )
  • Photographers will be vetted but all skill levels are welcome. Applications will be processed in the order they are received. For our 2024 event there will be 30 Photographer badges available.
  • Photographer badge holders will be allowed to hold shoots in any of the public areas of the convention center. If asked by convention center or hotel staff to relocate, please follow their instructions.
  • ALL photographers will be limited to 2 additional off camera lights stands
    No backdrops will be allowed to be placed or excessive gear to clutter the convention center. However, these additional off camera lights will not be permitted in any of the Matsuricon Photoshoot Rooms. 
  • Matsuricon is not responsible for any, and all lost, stolen or damaged equipment during the convention. This includes but is not limited to personal items, as well as primary camera/video equipment. 
  • Photographers will be allowed to advertise for shoots on the Matsuricon Facebook page & Discord (please limit to one post a week).
  • Photographers will have access to early seating for the Masquerade (after VIP badge holders).
  • Photographers will be listed on the Matsuricon website and Matsuricon Official Photography Page, as approved Photographers.
  • All photographers will be expected to follow the same rules and regulations attendee guidelines, when purchasing any badge, to ensure a safe environment for all. Unacceptable Behaviors: 

  • Failure to comply with any of the above listed guidelines may result in revoking photographer badge status.
  • During our event, if there becomes an issue of conduct you may loose your badge and be removed from the convention center.
